“Giving The Gift of Technology”

Make a difference in someone’s life by donating your used or unneeded computer equipment to those less fortunate.

So What is PCs To The People?

The PCs to the People program provides refurbished computer systems to low-income residents meeting income eligibility requirements. Refurbished systems come complete with Monitor, CPU, Keyboard, and Mouse. The systems are:

  • Hard drive prewiped for data security
  • Fully tested
  • Internet ready
  • Microsoft licensed

How Does It Work?

ReUse Industries collects donations of used computers and components, which are then tested, cleaned and repaired. Completely refurbished systems (including monitor, keyboard, mouse, and Pentium 4 or better CPU) are compiled and a licensed Microsoft operating system is installed. Residents meeting the eligible income limits shown below can purchase a refurbished system at a price significantly lower than what a new system would cost. The fee structure is set-up to nominally cover handling, testing, licensing, and parts costs.

Why Is This Important?

Studies have shown that individuals with computer skills are much more likely to attain gainful employment, typically at a much higher level of pay than those without these skills. By providing access to computer technology, donors will be increasing the quality of life for their friends and neighbors, stimulating the local economy, and aiding the environment.

What Can I Donate?

We can accept equipment in small and large quantities. Although we do not accept equipment for recycling, we can accept some equipment of lesser specifications based on the quality of the overall donation. Do not hesitate to contact us regarding your equipment surplus availability. If you are unsure of what type of equipment you have, please contact Cathy Wilson at 740-698-8200 ext. 3.

How Can I Donate?

Drop-off donations of computer equipment are accepted at our Albany facility during normal business hours, however, please call first to ensure that we have adequate space and staff to accept your donation. A pickup service (often free of charge) is available for many donations based on the location, quantity, and quality of materials. Do not hesitate to contact us regarding your donation regardless of your location.
