ReUse in the A-News!
As I walked into Athens’ New to You Shoppe one particularly sweltering Saturday afternoon in July, the strong smell of lint and musk struck like a ton of bricks. This familiar scent brought a smile to my face; it is the smell of something so sweet – the scent of cheap deals on used goods.
While some folks shop thrift stores because they’re on the prowl for unique or vintage fashions, many people are just looking to save a buck, while others do so for environmental, political or social issues.
“I feel like there are so many clothes that have been produced already,” Athens resident Jordan Vincent explained. “Why produce any more if you don’t have to? Thrifting is good for the environment.”

Welcome new VISTA Julia Flint!
Move-out was a big success! We worked for 12 days straight getting donations and have a great inventory of items. We had help from some of our board members and SEPTAS who helped make it all possible.
We are now back in the office and are welcoming our new VISTA Julia Flint. She just completed her junior year at OU and has decided to take a year off and join us here at ReUse. Julia is from Rayland, OH and was majoring in communications. She is potentially the last new VISTA we will get here at ReUse as we have been informed that there is the possibility of our VISTA program not being renewed.

Welcome to Julia and have a happy summer shopping at ReUse!
