A Green Guide for Earth DayCheck out MSN's 50 Easy Ways to Go Green. It has lots of helpful (and simple!) tips on how to make your impact on our earth just a little bit softer. Some of our favorites:Consider using compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs). They cost a bit more than regular bulbs, but you'll lower your electric bill and pay less in the long run-CFLs last up to ten times longer than traditional ones.
From furniture to electronics, one person's trash is another's treasure-so when you want to dispose of an old item, don't make the dump your first stop.

Earth Day is just around the corner! Slate.com, in a partnership with Treehugger, is calling on its readers to take its Green Challenge. The challenge, which will take place over the course of the next seven weeks, is designed to help the everyday person reduce their carbon emissions.
There are seven different categories, this weeks being transportation. After that, you can expect challenges on such topics as heating, food, clothing, electricity, water and home/office.
This is a great and easy way to see how you can do your part to protect our environment!

ReUse Benefit at the Union - Update! Our benefit at the Union this last Friday was a great success. AmeriCorps*VISTA Leo DeLuca, who coordinated the benefit, would like to thank all of the bands who played that night and all of the people who showed up to support ReUse Industries. Here are a few pictures from the night:

Thanks again to the artists and to everyone who showed up that night! We'd also like to thank Ben from Future Perfect Media for making us the ReUse buttons that we gave away at the show. Also, if you happened to miss this show, you'll have another chance to come out and support ReUse at our DIY fashion show, Project ReUse, which will be held at Casa Nueva on May 12. The show will start at 10 pm with the Athens-based band Paper Machetes opening up the night, followed by the fashion show (featuring the work of local reuse designers!), and the night will end with Lancaster band Men of Gentle Birth. It's going to be rockin', and we'll be giving you more updates as the date gets closer!
ReUse Industries Highway CleanupOur highway cleanup that we held on March 31, in conjunction with the Keep Ohio Beautiful and Ohio Department of Transportation Roadway Cleanup, went very well. AmeriCorps*VISTAs Jennifer Squires, Max Felsher, Duane Bogart, and myself, Sherri Oliver, teamed up to clean the two-mile stretch of US Highway 50 that ReUse Industries has adopted. We'd also like to thank Brett Laverty, of the Raccoon Creek Watershed Project, for coming out and lending a hand.Over the course of three hours and not-so-wonderful weather, we collected roughly 16 bags of trash which weighed in at a total of 330 pounds. That's a lot of trash! But now, the stretch of road leading up to ReUse Industries is once again clean, and I have to say, it looks wonderful.
Above: Two miles east of ReUse, we began our cleanup in the rain.
