We need your help!

Late in August, we here at ReUse Industries in Albany were the victims of a break-in. We lost a significant number of tools necessary for testing and repairing the goods we receive from our charitable donors. Also lost was much of the equipment we use for maintaining our grounds and facilities. While some of these items were purchased new, many more had been donated by businesses and members of the community. We take pride in our ability to utilize donated materials in our daily operations and never suspected that others would find profit in the theft of these items.

This incident serves to point out the great economic hardship that this community endures. It is unfortunate that an individual would feel forced to resort to such desperate measures. We’re here because we realize the importance of keeping reusable items out of landfills and providing basic household necessities to those who would not ordinarily be able to afford them.

Although we’re disappointed that this occurred, we feel that positive things often come out of negative circumstances. If you are able to help, we welcome donations of workshop/woodworking equipment such as saws, drills, screw/nail guns and other power tools; we will also gladly accept manual devices such as chisels, clamps, pry bars and levels. One irreplaceable item, however, is our Freon recovery pump, necessary for removing harmful Freon from unusable appliances. This is estimated to cost between $1,000 and $1,600.

We value the support we receive from our community; without it, ReUse Industries would not be able to fulfill its commitment to serve the residents and protect the environment of Appalachian Ohio.
