An update

The past couple weeks have been very busy, and it's been hard to find time to update the blog. Here's a recap of what we've been up to:
  • AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteers Emily Camm and Duane Bogart set up information booths at both the Athens County Fair and the Ridgetop Music Festival in McArthur. Fun times were had by all!
  • We were featured in The Athens News "Progress in Athens County" series.
  • The AmeriCorps*VISTAs were busy last week in Glouster doing deconstruction on houses that were damaged by the 2004 flood. We were able to salvage a ton of great building materials, which should be available for sale in the next week or so at our Albany location.
  • The VISTAs will be out and about in Athens this week flyering for OU Student Move-In, which leads us to our next bit of news..
It's that time of year again..

It's the end of August, and that means that the beginning of classes and the return of Ohio University students! We'll be offering a 25% discount to all Ohio University students with valid student IDs. We have everything you need for your dorm or apartment, at great prices.

Good luck, Leo!

Sadly, it's time to say goodbye to AmeriCorps*VISTA Leo DeLuca. Leo came to ReUse in June 2006 as a Rural Action Summer Associate, and he became a full-fledged VISTA in August of 2006.

In Leo's time at ReUse he was in charge of planning our activities for OU Student Move-Out, which is most definitely our most hectic time of year. This year's move-out went very well, and Leo played a big part in that. In addition to OU Student Move-Out, Leo planned a successful benefit concert for ReUse and was an integral part of our DIY fashion show benefit, Project ReUse.

Now that he has finished with ReUse, Leo will be going on the road, playing drums with Athens indie-folk group Southeast Engine. The band will be touring four months out of the year.

When he is not touring with his band, Leo will be substitute teaching, working construction, and booking shows at Donkey Coffee and Espresso.
