Changes at ReUse

Earlier this month, AmeriCorps*VISTA Joe Cennamo completed his term of service. A graduate of Ohio University, Joe completed two years of service at ReUse Industries. During his time at ReUse Joe coordinated volunteers, did much to further the Works For Wares program, and was the former author of the monthly newsletter, among many other accomplishments. We’d like to wish Joe luck in his future endeavors, and thank him for his tireless service!

ReUse also said goodbye to another member of our team when driver Andrew Cook left in early November. Andrew, who’d been with ReUse since December of 2005, was a former AmeriCorps*VISTA at Rural Action, in addition to being an all-around good guy. During his time at ReUse, Andrew completed over 600 pickups, totaling over 180,000 pounds. Wow! We’d like to wish Andrew well at his new job!

Also, we’d like to congratulate Seth Fannin, ReUse’s computer technician, and his wife Susan on the recent birth of a beautiful baby girl.

Upcoming Events

This Saturday, December 2, Rural Action is holding their first annual “Tis the Season to Buy and Give Local” bazaar at Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville. The event will last from 11:30 am – 4:30 pm and will feature locally-made goods as well as area non-profit organizations.

ReUse Industries will be participating in this great event, and we encourage you to come out to Stuart’s Opera House, support local businesses, and find out more about what local non-profits are doing to help people in your area!

Also on Saturday, keep an eye out for the ReUse truck in the sixteenth annual Christmas Parade in McArthur. The parade starts at 5:30 pm, so make sure to get there early and get the best seat!

See you Saturday!

This Past Month

Thanks to a generous grant from the Athens Foundation, ReUse held its second community reuse day in the villages of Jacksonville and Trimble on October 27. Although the weather was less than cooperative, the day went very well, and over 500 pounds of reusable materials were donated. Thank you to everyone in Trimble and Jacksonville who helped to make this day a success! And stay tuned for more community collection days around Athens County in the future.
